    High quality automated compacts

If you want pocketable then it's an easy choice. The S95. I wouldn't get too excited about the Leica, it's just a Panny underneath with a nice badge and different firmware.

    Best cameraphone with decent flash?

I don't think there is any current phone that can touch the N8 as a camera, but unfortunately, as you've experienced, Symbian OS is a bit outdated and rubbish. I've given up on Nokia after many years and now moved onto Android. Android is a great OS but the cameras are rubbish and the battery...

    Taking your camera abroad

Watch out for security, they love inspecting your gear. Last time I flew I had to get all my lenses out of their cases and watch my DSLR get swabbed for explosives. I would recommend a small backpack for your camera gear.

good sharp alternative to canon 17-55 2.8

Tamron 17-50mm, but I would just keep the Canon ?

Which compact up to £400, Canon, Nikon, Sony, Panny etc

I would go for a S95 if you need something small, or a LX5 or G12 if you don't mind the size. That new Olympus XZ1 does look rather nice.

3g wireless dongles - any good

I sometimes use a 3 dongle. The speed is nowhere near ADSL or cable but for light surfing it's not too bad.

Advise on compacting my lens collection

I would keep the 50mm and 18-200, sell the rest and get a decent 70-200 or 70-300.

Image Stabilisation - your thoughts on it?

For a long lens such as the 70-200 I would always go with the IS version. IS isn't perfect and if you have shaky hands you will still get the odd blurred shot, but it's a decent safety net and allows much lower shutter speeds.

Who uses a digital compact camera?

I use a Fuji F200 when I can't be bothered lugging the DSLR, it gives reasonable results and fits easily in my pocket.

Canon 17-40 f4 or Tamron 17-50 f2.8, help me decide

I would go with the Tamron. I think the 17-40L is only really useful for full frame.

    Wordpress for photogrpahy site?

Wordpress does take a bit of time to find your way around and get the hang of how things work. I would suggest you to go to Themes, (WP-control panel-appearance-themes-install) then click on "photoblogging" and search for a photo ready theme. Autofocus is a decent theme to play around with...

    What camera shall i have??

Hi Holly and welcome to the forum. If you could give us some idea about what you would like to shoot, your experience and your current cameras it would be great. For camera prices I would look at camerpricebuster, pricerunner and amazon.

Canon Powershot S95 as a go everywhere pocket camera?

I bought an S90 a couple of weeks ago and I love it. The S95 is mostly the same as the S90. I don't think you will be disappointed.

    Which lenses?

Is your 18-55mm the IS model ? If not then consider upgrading to the new one with IS. For a tele zoom how about Canon 55-250mm IS or 70-300mm IS ?

    Remember your first digital camera?

My first digital camera was a Fuji MX1200 with a 1.3mpx sensor, around about 2000. When I look back at the photos it took they were awful. My current phone(n95) takes much better pics.
