They should have a printable version of this, so that we may post it in an inconspicuous place. :D

Round 2 of the Photography Competition Closing 17th April

Thanks for the link Jewel :) I took a quick look here at work, but I'll have a good one when I get home. I have never been down that way so I'm really interested.

    Easter Holiday!

Happy Easter to all of you as well :) And we just got another 2 inches here yesterday, but it has already started melting. Of course driving was fun yesterday, especially since I took the sand bags out of the truck last weekend :x At least the snow tires were still on.

Round 2 of the Photography Competition Closing 17th April

You're still alot closer than the rest of us. Two hours closer than I am, at least. Although I was thinking of heading up there when I saw the theme for this round. I just love the Calatrava work that is in the city.

    Your wish list?

To add to my current (and small 10d kit), I would add A decent tripod - my current one is a 10 year old $30 broken Velbon. This should be resolved this week though [smilie=w: A wider lens then my current 28-75 Tamron XR di (I like landscape and architectural photos) A flash such as the 550...

Been Asked To Photograph A Wedding?

I don't know, Steve. The photographer at my own wedding made it look so easy, but I'm sure that it wasn't (my wedding party was nothing but a bunch of goofs, and drunks after the ceremony :D). That said, if, and that's a big IF, I ever became proficient enough, I would consider it. I may have...

Round 2 of the Photography Competition Closing 17th April

Oooooo!!!! :D Great choice Eric! Of course now I definitely have to get out there for this one, since you have chosen a subject of great interest to me since I am an architect. Hopefully our magnificent admin team will allow us enough time. It may take me awhile to get the old brain fired...

    Competition voting and critique thread…

Dlh: As someone else said, the first thing I thought of was Schindler’s List, and as in the movie, this sign is signaling something important: a change in direction. In the movie it was a change in the direction his life was taking, and here this sign is telling me that it is time to change...

    Competition voting and critique thread…

Edge: I’ve seen this photo of yours before, and I still like it. The one critique I do have is that it may benefit with a little Photoshop work to accentuate the colors a little more. Perhaps if the pinks and blues “popped” a little bit more, it might have been more dramatic. This is just my...

    Competition voting and critique thread…

Well, as I promised Steve, here is my critique of the competition. Hopefully I won't offend anyone, as that is not my intention. I simply would like to offer constructive criticism which will help you grow, as your photographs have helped me grow. BTW, get a drink and something to eat now...

    Tripod Help, Please

Thanks for the advice feeson :) I have to agree that it is best to try one out first hand. I have already done so twice, and I will again before I actually buy one.

    Tripod Help, Please

Thanks for the responses guys. :) While Gitzo is a great tripod from what I've heard & read, it is not available locally, so I would have no opportunity to try one out before purchase. However, you did get my interest with that explorer, Matt. I took a look at B&H Photo's website...

    Tripod Help, Please

Hi everybody! :D I have been looking at some Manfrotto legs and heads at a local camera shop, and I have narrowed it down to a few choices, but I'm now stuck, since I have never had a decent tripod, and therefore am inexperienced. I am looking at Neotec 458b legs and the 3265, 486RC2...

    best settings for snow?

A few weeks ago I took a trip out to photograph the snow, and I put on a polarizer, set the file to raw, and added a few stops of exposure, based on the histogram. I set my 10d to show the image for 8 secs with the info & histogram, based on what Steve has said in another thread. It worked...
