    Fell running shoe advice

Check the websites for inov-8 and salomon. AFAIK, they dominate the trail running scene. I have a pair Salomon XA PRO 3D ULTRA (what a name...), they are superbly confortable and very grippy, although I havent done a lot of wet grass. Inov-8 has a huge range of styles and soles design for all...

    redsnapper tripods

You should have no issues with those lenses and the head you are using. If you end up using a heavier combo or its a specially windy stiuation, maybe make use of the tripods multiple leg angles and get a more stable base that way. It might work well with the wide angles and a low camera...

Warning Graphic Picture of Matador being Gored

I think is pitiful and pathetic the concerns of people regarding the bull, their disdain for the bull fighter and their apparent lack of awareness about the world they love in... Personally I don't regard what they do as bull fighting, an art form or a sport as some call them. Not glad for the...

Filming wild animals is a breach of their privacy "rights" Discuss?

:lol::cuckoo: 'We can never really know if animals are giving consent, but they often do engage in forms of behaviour which suggest they'd rather not encounter humans, such as running away or building a burrow. Read more...

    Filter caused poor quality

Common sense should apply I guess. I have never used a UV filter, have used a CPL and was very disappointed. Quality is expensive. There is also still a residual idea being carried from then days of film (and helped along by stores) that you should put a filter on all your lenses... Why...

What do you class as wildlife?

Personally I would have bigger objection to falsely claim an action, than whether the animal is in the wild or captive (even if a very proper captivity). So if you setup the shot to have a certain action, tempering with animal behaviour, you are not capturing wild behaviour. (Things like...

What do you class as wildlife?

For me an animal which has not been tamed or grown for food and that lives in an environment similar to its natural habitat. So a flee or a water buffalo in reservation (of adequate size) are wildlife. But this is for what I'd consider existing as wildlife. A tamed lion in a case is still...

War and Conflict Reportage - A Sanitized View ?

In WWII, images of dead GI started coming out when it was realized that it would boost people's commitment to the war. After that war bonds shot up. Marines enrolments not so much... Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. The media, if free, is the military's (or any other power's)...

Camera mistaken for RPG... do you buy it?

I think its all about how much you are willing to pay to safe guard you interests. Governments are willing to risk hasty plans and preparations, lose personnel, equipments, hostiles and civillians. No visible bars hold up to the point the media starts squeezing them. The guys on the ground...

    Dust in lenses...

Typicallly bits of dust inside the lens, have no noticeable effect (ditto for scratches). If you allot or plenty of very fine dust, you should see loss of contrast. It is not very usual for lenses to have that much dust anyway, only if they are very very old and have not been well kept.
