James,
Thank you for your feedback too.
In the original shot the cyclist was fairly central to the frame. I've broken quite a few 'rules' on composition with this work just because I'm a contrary bu$$er.
Here's another cycling/panning shot:

Thanks to you all from the feedback.
Really they are all grab shots.. I was in the vicinity not to take photos but to hand out flyers. (Glamorous!)
They are all taken using a D200 and a Nikkor 18-105 - so not very flash kit.
It's visitors queuing up to watch a Graduation ceremony. I...
I've been in the vicinity of Manchester Oxford Road for most last week and this week. I don't really do 'street' photography, but here's some of what I've captured - in no particular order:

Not sure where the 250% comes from.
Besides, many smaller retailers use Amazon anyway.
I've been to a lot of Jessops stores and although there's some variation I've had much better experience of using them then say Halford's for cycling stuff or PC World for computer stuff.

I've got a gig this weekend shooting Ice Hockey.
Not something I've done before .. plenty of outdoor sports (football/rugby). I'll be using a D700 and possibly a D300s - although i suspect the venue will be a bit too dark for the latter.
Any hints/tips from the seasoned sports pros...
Not really one for getting sentimental about things - and I can't afford too as this is a camera I regularly hire out for a pittance to people attending my photography courses.

What was your first proper camera?
The cap-edge is undamaged.
Not entire sure how it happened, this is the result of me bumping the lens when the camera was tripod mounted. I suspect internally it must have already been broken as such a slight knock should not of damaged it.
Any idea where I could get this repaird in Manchester?

This is a little frustrating. That's my Tamron 28-75 f2.8 which has been more-or-less permanently attached to my D200, used extensively as a walk about lens and also extensively in my product photography.
It was a jolly useful piece of kit...
