    Canon x2 MkIII Extender

I wondered if I could ask if any of you guys use the above extender between a 1DX body and a 100 - 400mm F4.5-5.6 L and does it work ???? I went to the Photography Show last weekend and asked on the Canon stand about this combination and to my amazement I got conflicting advice and no real help...

Beginner My new hobby and the much needed camera

Books are great but the internet has nearly everything for free !!! As already mentioned You Tube is a great place to start an there are loads of magazines in the shops that will help you get to grips with the basics and fill you in on latest equipment reviews etc. When you have your camera...

    Recommendations for Lens Repairs

Hi Guys, I have a Canon 100-400mm L F4-5.6 IS that has got the problem of the locking liner breaking up. Most of the liner has now come away and thankfully has fallen out of the lens rather than going into the lens. Could anyone recommend a place to send it to have the liner replaced. My...

    Macro Lens

I use the the Canon 100mm F2.8 IS L and the image quality is stunning. The thing to note about any macro lens is they have to be sharp, any in-perfections will stand out a mile due the to magnification. Bear in mind, as others have said that you will really need a flash when working at higher...

What is new in Adobe Photoshop CC?

Thanks Peter for your help. I carried on digging for quite some time last night and came to the conclusion that all will be well and I should make the investment. So I'll be signing up in the next couple of days, can't wait. Stumac - I have read mixed reports on this, personally I haven't...

What is new in Adobe Photoshop CC?

Terrywoodenpic - Is Photoshop CC subscription only and does it still contain all the functions of all the other Photoshop CS? programs ? Sorry to ask such a dumb question but I've had my eye of the photography ball following a house move earlier this year. I've just been treated to a Canon 1Dx...

    Canon 400d (Focus)

Guys I shoot with a Canon 40D which is approx the same era as your 400D. If it helps I have a similar problem and have learnt that you need to review your images on the computer not the LCD on the camera. There is nothing wrong with my 40D but to really nail the focus I usually use Live...

What lens/ es do you use when out for landscapes?

Glad this thread has been posted, usually use my 24 - 105L on my 40D for landscapes. Was toying with the idea of acquiring a prime (of some description) for landscape work but surprised to see how many of you are using telephoto lenses.

    Landscape focusing

Also try enabling "mirror lock up" so vibrations from the mirror moving out of the way doesn't affect the image. Also limit filters etc that are in front of the lens and only use good quality filters. Hope that helps.

How can you tell if there is going to be a nice sunrise/ sunset

I agree you have to be out there and watching weather forecasts is important. Watch out for Cold Fronts approaching they will give you cumulus clouds (large towering clouds) in the sky. Warm fronts tend to give much flatter clouds. Just keep an eye on the weather and maybe do some digging...

    Crop Sensor V Full Frame

Wow guys thanks for you responses. This is something that has been knocking around my head for quite a while, so I think I'll start saving my pennies and see what I can get next year. Thanks for all the great advice.

    Crop Sensor V Full Frame

Thanks Guys. Sorry I should have mentioned I'm not using cheap lenses. Have always bought the best that I can afford and use the Canon "L" series. Seen a big improvement but can't afford like £5k etc on a lens. Certainly don't put cheap and crappy UV filters in front of good glass. Happy...
