    "Panasonic G series" Owners Thread

Hi everyone. Not been on here for ages but I've rediscovered my interest in photography during assorted recent lockdowns. Anyhoo, started with m43 back with the excellent GF1 (still got), eventually replaced it with a GX80 but managed to break that last autumn so replaced it with a G90. Really...

Hi. There were about 150 deciding factors £££ :-) From what could make out, there's little to choose between them so went for the cheapest.

Just taken delivery of the Oly 75-300 for my GX80. Pleased with it so far... Lesser redpoll: Siskin:

Evening all. Not been on the site for years, but had been plugging away with my GF1 quite happily. Finally retired it a couple of weeks ago and replaced it with a GX80 (like a GF1 with a viewfinder and a spirit level innit!?). Dead pleased with it and, like the GF1 before it, it should be the...

I (didnt) Won Charlie Waites Landscape Photographer of the Year 2012 LPOTY

That's the trouble with photography - too many prissy 'artists' with fragile egos thinking they're more special than everyone else. Congrats on the win Dave. Well deserved - stunning pics.

Show us yer film shots then!

2 quid!!! That's a bit extravagant :D. Mine cost nothing (used to belong to my grandparents) but they do seem to pop up for pennies quite often.

Show us yer film shots then!

Stuck a roll of Ilford FP4 Plus 125 in this: and got this: Which I am quite pleased with! Looks better in real life. Ironically, the camera and film captured far more detail than my crappy scanner could.

    Canon system to M43

Got a GF1 a couple of years ago and haven't touched my Canon stuff (50D and L glass) since. I've only still got it all because I am too lazy to advertise it (I am getting round to it). I tend to shoot landscapes mainly and more often than not in the mountains. The reduction in size and weight...

what kit have you still got that should go

    450D 50D 50mm 1.8 mkII 17-40 10-22 Sigma 70-300 APO 18-55 IS I think it's fair to say I've quite taken to my m43 stuff.

    New Leica release

B&W only? What is this, the 19th Century? Pretentious nonsense for the more-money-than-sense-brigade. There, I've said it.

Best Canon 'walkabout' lens between £500-£600

I agree - if by 'walkabout' you mean general purpose 'one size fits all' then an 18-200mm can't be beaten. The other lenses mentioned, although superior quality, are too limited to be truly general purpose. I'd also give the 15-85mm some consideration.

    40D for NEX-7

If it's any help, my DSLR kit (50D, 10-22mm, 17-40mm, 70-200mm) is being ditched because all I have used over the last year is a GF1. If I were doing it all over again I would give the GX1 some serious consideration. Image quality on the GF1 is fine - certainly more than good enough for agency...

The main reason I opted for a GF1 was for the combination of image quality vs. size. I do a lot of hill walking and, especially when laden with winter gear, a traditional DSLR soon becomes a heavy, bulky pain in the arse. M43, and the GF1 in particular seemed like the perfect solution. I used...

Thank you. Yeah, really should have a go at adjusting the verticals! Unfortunately the building's not symetrical so it wouldn't be possible to get a properly centralised shot. :shake: The walk was just a practice run for a 26 mile sponsored event in a couple of weeks. Was pleasantly...
