    Gear losing value?

    I think it's all about did your gear serve you well and did you get lots of enjoyment out of your cameras and lenses, if the answer is yes then surely you can't think about the loss just except the hit and move on, carry on enjoying the hobby you love.

    I have used the 300mm F/4 for years and it's my favourite lens once you get the knack of it you'll love it.

    I used the 200-500 with and without the 1.4 TC and it was super sharp on the Nikon D810 if it hadn't of been for the size/weight I'd have kept it.

    Dust or Fungus?

    I have a Nikon 2.8 80-200mm lens which also suffer with some inner lens fungi but believe it or not an aphid got inside and got rid of most of it.

    Beginner Camera strap

    The camera straps that Nikon supply with their cameras are cheap and nasty, they cut into the back of your neck, I picked up a good one from the local charity shop for £3 so it might pay you to do the same.
