The other option for your budget, if you're not fussed about the 55-200, would be to get the d3100 body and get the 35mm f1.8. Total would be a little over £400 new. Fantastic pairing.

Both are excellent cameras. Whichever you buy I'm sure you will be happy with, as a d3100 owner. The question on the lenses depends on what you shoot. If you use the zoom range of your previous camera for the likes of wildlife, then it makes sense to go for the d3100 deal with the zoom lens...

+1 for the 17 - 55. Although, one thing going against it is that it is much heavier and bulkier than the 16 - 85. I bought mine 2nd hand on this forum and I'm really pleased with it.

I've been looking at wedding albums and wondering if anyone could tell me the difference between the Loxley Belissimo albums vs the DSCL MTA Madrid albums? My own wedding album is a belissimo so I'm aware of the quality and what its like. What is the difference with the MTA range?

I've had the 17-55 attached to my d3100 and never noticed any problems. I'll re check this tonight. I did a -20 fine tune last night to check the effect and at 17mm its not perfect but usable. It seems to not have affected the 55mm focal length. The focus on this is still spot on.

So, finally got my D7000 the other day from Amazon after Citylink lost my first camera! Just trying to get to the grips with it at the moment with my 17-55mm. I know there have been lots of threads and talk of the back-focus issue with the D7000 but not managed to find the answer to one...

Paired with the D7000, the 35mm is the best bet. Good walkaround lens at a good focal length and it's cheap as chips!
