    Blown skies

Instead of using filters or post-processing, I usually take a meter reading from the sky and a meter reading from the foreground and try to meet the exposure in the middle (Meter from Sky = f11 @ 1/250s // Meter from foreground = f11 @ 1/15s then I'd use f11 @ 1/60s - 1/125s). What can people tell me about the colour settings of my Nikon D50?

Are they standard, such as 'flurescent', 'daylight', or 'flash' or can you set the degrees Kelvin? 1800K - 7000+K?

    Opionions on portable lighting kits.

http://www.lencarta.com/smartflash-mains-flash/fla0018bg-smartflash-3-head-softbox/umbrella-kit-+-background/index.php - Is what I'm looking at, at the minute. What are your opinions? Is 200W sufficient to light a range of situations? Or is this kit too low bugdet at 504 English Sovs?

Yeah, I'm aware of the on location implications and all that, the lights will be used indoors... By portable, I meant kit that could be moved around.

    Opionions on portable lighting kits.

I'll be getting another installment of my student loan in April and I was wondering, because the university's lighting equipment is unavailable to us when the uni is closed over Christmas, Easter and summer breaks, that I'd invest in a lighting kit. Now, at the minute I'm looking at more money =...

BBC4 9pm TV Tonight. Brian Duffy "The Man Who Shot the 60s"

Wasn't it because he's contracted a condition with his lungs that his son convinced him in to organise a retrospective? I caught it on BBC iPlayer this morning, very good watch.

    Hello.

Hello, My name's Danni and I'm studying photography at university and I was looking for a place that I can discuss photography and find inspiration. No doubt that I'll be reassured that I've found the right place :). I look forward to future discussions with you all.
