I have both full frame and APS-C systems and my preference has flipped between both over the years. The difference in physical size of some comparable set-ups isn't always so significant to me and I usually don't want razor-thin depth of focus, but find that images from full frame have a very...
I "upgraded" from a GR ii to a GR iii and iiix. Whilst I appreciate the improvements which have been introduced in later models, I also greatly miss the built-in flash. I've now got a mini Godox flash to use with them, but it's fully manual. I would have liked to have seen a return of the...
I really enjoyed the X-E2 especially when paired with a fast prime such as the 35mm f/1.4. I've always tended to use the EVF on the X100 cameras so it was a similar experience with the X-E2. Wish I'd kept it!
It's been a while since I had my X100S, but I'm more than happy with the photos I've gotten from it. It still has a lot of the core features of the newer X100 cameras and handles pretty much the same, but won't be as performant. IMO, worth getting if you're set on an X100.
grainydays - last 4 uploads have 3 about gear. :p
Bryan Birks - looks interesting.
One thing I've heard from some content creators is that gear reviews get a lot more views than non-gear related content so it doesn't surprise me that there's so much of it around.
Admittedly, there is a lot of gear, but then some of these are working photographers so they will cover gear if so inclined to do so as well as talking about the photography side of things.
Just looking over some of the recent uploads from some of the channels...
Ted Forbes used to produce...
Yeah, appreciate it is very gear centric, but that's probably how I originally came across them in the first instance and YouTube naturally will keep suggesting other gear-centric channels to me. So, thanks in advance for any suggestions which are less gear focused!
Hi all,
Thought I'd share some of my favourite YouTube channels for photography related content in no particular order. Do you have any to add?
Matt Day - https://www.youtube.com/@mattdayphoto - Reviews gear from a user point of view, but also talks a lot about photography in general...
Glass definitely makes a big difference. I have a Sigma f/1.4 Art for my A7iii which produces similarly sharp photos with a lovely fall-off, but it's about the same size as my Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 and heavier. The A7iii with a Samyang 35mm f/2.8 is much more compact, but the body and grip are...
If I could have a zoom lens then it would be my Fujifilm X-T5 and 16-50mm kit lens. If only a single focal length then my Fujifilm X100V with its 35mm equivalent.
When I first started getting more serious about digital photography (still in a non-professional capacity) some 20 years ago, I found myself longing for that "full frame look". You know, the paper thin depth of field and backgrounds blurred into oblivion. Then, when I ventured into the world...
That is certainly one option.
I'm looking specifically at a cloud option as it can be fully automated, incrementally updated (updates are important as files will be added on a regular basis) and I don't need to be concerned with the hardware and its eventual failure.
Some background info... I've a Synology NAS with about 14TB used for the storage of my family's photos, videos and back-ups. I've a full local back-up and partial off-site back-up. Currently, I'm considering the possibility of having a full NAS back-up stored in the cloud as a disaster...
