Thanks chaps. In case it's useful to anyone else Hobbycraft do sheets of coloured acetate. Looks exactly like flash gels I've used before. £3 for an a4 sheet though.. Outrageous!

It's small steps though. I'm getting there but I started by getting used to being 'caught' taking candids of friends and family, then getting 'caught' by friends of friends, now I'm feeling better about taking pictures of strangers as a result. I think for some (me!) it's just a slow process.
