    Long distance flashes

Impressive results, but I doubt the student budget will stretch to that! :shake:

    Long distance flashes

I look forward to coming along on the next night-time adventure! :D With the multiple flashes, wouldn't a hand-held flash triggered manually do the trick? Oli

Oh, b****r...well at least I didn't say yes!

I got asked to do a friend's mum's wedding because they knew I had a "big camera" :bonk: I tried to say no but she was very persistent and eventually I agreed to it. I made it very clear that I was in no way a good photographer, I had never done a wedding or anything like it before, my photos...

    CF Tripods - A Warning

EXACTLY, thankyou. I was going to use the comparison:- My rowing boat oars are fine in the water, so my dining table should be fine stood in the pond right?

    CF Tripods - A Warning

The results of one of countless studies can be found here http://resource.npl.co.uk/docs/networks/tman/090204_moisture/broughton.pdf Obviously most studies are published in journals/papers that aren't available for free, but if you google the subject you'll appreciate the amount of work that...

    CF Tripods - A Warning

Indeed he is correct, water absorption and the subsequent degradation of mechanical properties is the subject of a lot of research in the field of composites. Many factors can vary the degree of damage caused by water absorption. I think it's fair that the manufacturer could assume minimal water...

    Stitching images vertically?

Thankyou very much indeed Chaz and Craig! 109MP of goodness created! I did have to rotate the images to merge them. Unfortunately it's not a beautiful panorama or anything worth sharing, it's a series of microscope images of a crack profile that in real life is only 10mm long :bonk:

    Stitching images vertically?

Thankyou very much! Playing with photostitch now :D

    Stitching images vertically?

I have a series of 47 images that I need to stitch together vertically. I currently only have GIMP editing software (as well as DPP but I don't think that's any use). Does anybody know how I can do this? I'm currently attempting to copy and paste onto layers, then manually moving the new layer...

    Canon crop walkabout lens

The 17-70 is possibly a good shout, I've had a little look around and only found one review online but it was positive. I haven't yet bought a third party lens and I'm dubious about quality, it seems a lot of people talk of 'bad copies' all the time and I'd be nervous about ending up with one...

    Canon crop walkabout lens

I'm currently using a Canon 28-135is as my walkabout lens, having given the kit lens (18-55is) to my GF with my old 1000D. I'm finding that the short end of the lens is far from wide enough, so I'm after a new short zoom lens. My current shortlist is as follows:- Canon 17-55 2.8 (Well praised...

You think about photography too much when......

...or when (if) you look at porn with one of the females being the 'photographer' and think that 70-200 F4 is entirely inappropriate for the subject distance :'( ..or when you check the EXIF on porn :'(

    Warehouse Express Cracking Easter Deals

Thanks for the post Terran, just ordered a flipside 300. Unfortunately I didn't read Tim's reply before ordering so lost out on a fiver, but still smiling :) Their online purchasing is down at the moment, so orders will need to be placed over the phone, which also means delivery will be to...
