I'm thinking of going for a 6d with 24-105L. I'm sure its been discussed in the thread somewhere, but how do people find the auto focus system? Centre point is obviously spot on but I do like to use surrounding focus points and wondered are they as bad as they seem on paper?
Good points, I see that the individual item shot may require a different lighting technique to bring out it qualities or hide it's bad point such as creases etc. Thanks!
Thanks Charlotte. Did you shoot RAW or JPEG and was there a need for much processing, I can't imagine so?
Once you 'pen-tooled' the item, did you then paste it onto a white background for web use I presume?
Wow, this thread got more attention than I expected. Thanks very much for all your input everyone!
I am waiting to hear back as to exactly what style shot they want, so I guess until then it's hard to know what's best to do. If they want something shooting with a model and quirky lighting...
Thanks for your response Garry, very helpful and informative, much appreciated.
It does seem that I am a few bits of kit short. Maybe I could blag a few bits and pieces through work, especially if there is going to be continued work, great idea! :D
There definitely won't be any models...
Hi guys,
I'm after a bit of advice.
I am not a professional but I do take internal show home pictures for my work as I work for housing developer. As a result my MD has asked if I would take some pics of clothing for his wife's clothing business. I told him I wasn't at professional level by...
I have a Sigma 10-20 f4-5.6 and it's a nice lens, although it is my second one as the first was sent back as it was soft down the left hand side of the frame. My current lens is equally sharp around all edges and takes a good sharp picture, you won't go far wrong with this lens providing you...
Yes, but you can now buy the USB dock which allows you to plug the lens into your laptop and correct any focusing issues yourself without having to send it off the Sigma for adjusting. For me that is a big selling point and it also provides a solution to Sigma's hit and miss focusing issues!
Thanks for the review, I am seriously considering purchasing one myself!
How do you find the focusing accuracy with this lens out of the box, as it's focusing accuracy that has always been Sigma's achillies heel. The thing I love about these new 'art' lenses is the usb dock which allows you...
I am currently looking to purchase a good quality prime lens myself for indoor portraits on my 60D. On a crop camera like yourself I am looking for a 30 / 35mm prime to give an equivalent focal range of around 50mm on FF format. I have played with a mates cheap 50mm 1.8 which is a good lens...
Yes, both flashes will fire but if you select the middle option (thats just a speedlite on its own as above) the flash on the camera doesn't contribute to the exposure. It either fires just before the shutter opens or fires on weakest setting (quickest flash time) so it doesn't have any effect...
