Bicarbonate of soda usually removes pongs from kitchen stuff - maybe it will work if you wash the bag down with it in the sink or bath and then leave it overnight. Another pong remover you could spray on the bag is the shoe freshener type stuff for pongy shoes - available from Clarks shoe...

I'm currently watching on the telly (idiot-lantern) a brilleau film on cheap DVD, a bit of a retro--fest but its got it all (nearly). The film (movie) is Le Mans. Although it stars Steve McQueen, to me the stars are (in no particular order) lotsa camera users in the crowd scenes, no auto focus...
