    Rescaling to actual size

Hi Jon I am not trying to set the size of the print, I want the size of the print to be elastic. Imagine shooting a painting that you know is 10" wide then your solution makes sense, you just make the crop width 10" and crop to the edge of the painting. Now imagine you have an image of a...

    Rescaling to actual size

I have photographed a series of drawings I have included in each a measure rule, I now want to out put these images at actual size ( this used to be so easy in the darkroom) anybody know an easy way to do this in Photoshop or lightroom. The method I've used before is to estimate the size and...

    Nikon speedlight 900 overheating

Yes overheat protection, mostly happens when bouncing, 3-4 shots and it's shot, pretty useless when it's supposed to be a pro unit, used Metz 45ct4 for years never a bother

Cheaper body\good lens or better body\worse lens

Glass over body always, no point in buying a sensor that will record millions of pixels if the lens can't resolve the detail onto it.

    Shutter Actuations

If you have Photoshop, you can find how many actuations there have been. Shoot a raw file image open it in Photoshop ( raw processor) go to file, file info, select advanced, you will see a number of folders, inside one of these you will see "image number" this is the number of actuations.

    Neutral Density Filters Question

Biggest problem is softness caused by reflection between the filters, that is the light passing through the first filter will strike the surface of the second filter and reflect back to the rear of the first filter giving a 'feather' to highlights in particular. Put multiple filters and the...

    Prime lens users

I think the 50mm is the correct choice it is the nearest to portrait lens given the sensor size. I use a very old nikkor 50mm prime fully manual ie no auto focus or camera set aperture, and other pros look at me like I'm mad, but it is razor sharp and I have not found a lens even in the +1k£ to...

    D90 ISO question.

I keep a few ND filters in my kit it means that I don't have to reduce the iso if I want to for example use a large aperture. The image tends to get noisy ( what we called grainy back in the day) when using the hi/lo settings

To shoot RAW or not with Sony a700?

To shoot raw or not? The question is this, would you give your undeveloped film to a blind man to process then print then shred your negative? This is in effect what you do if you don't shoot raw, you leave it up to your camera to decide on all aspects of the output then allow it to throw the...
