    Photography meet-ups

I definitely want to attend them. Haven't found many nearby. I went to one once and it was a much much older crowd and felt completely out of place.

Dell XPS 13 or XPS 15?

The XPS15 will be more powerful. I can't imagine you'd go wrong with either. I'm no professional, but I use my Surface Pro 4 (similar processor to the XPS13, just older) and it works fine for all my lightroom needs. My wife uses a XPS15 and it is noticeably faster. You might also prefer the...

Night sky photography, full-frame and the Sony "Star eater"

Yea this is exactly what I'm trying to work out. This is all a hobby for me (mostly landscape) but I want to do more night sky when I travel (unfortunately live too close to London ATM). So it's a more casual use. It's hard to read between the lines on the blogs/posts about "star eater"...

Night sky photography, full-frame and the Sony "Star eater"

Yea, familiar with that problem with my cameras already. I would truly love an A73 - It's been on my dream list since the launch. The problem is I could get an A7/D750/6D (second hand) + lenses and still have plenty of cash left before I even reach the cost of the A73 body. What I"d love to do...

Night sky photography, full-frame and the Sony "Star eater"

Yea, not looking for a dedicated camera for it. Just something that performs better. Yea, the A7III seems to be a hell of a lot of camera. But it's also a lot more expensive than picking up a second hand A7/A7II.

Night sky photography, full-frame and the Sony "Star eater"

So I'm currently a MFT user (Panny G80 and Oly Em5ii) and I want to do more night sky photography. I'm also going to Lapland in November to hunt northern lights. I found getting a Samyang 12mm F2 greatly improved the images I could capture. That extra light went a long way. I'd love to move to...

Green in Night Sky (Over Grand Canyon)

It's been bothering me all week. I've done a little googling but I'm really not sure what it is. Example below (completely unprocessed - G80, 12mm F2, ISO 3200, 20 sec). Is it "Airglow" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airglow)? Anyone know what it is? Is it Airglow?

Beginner CPL causing reflections on lens?

If it weren't for the smaller flare at the top that's actually kind of a neat effect.

    Decent priced D700 and Oly12-40

Wasn't sure where the best place to post but I just walked past the CEX in Hatfield Galleria and spotted 2x 12-40 Oly for £400 each and a D700 for £420. Didn't look too closely or ask anything but they look in good condition. Figure might be interesting for someone :-).

    Trying Linux

Agreed, I said most (not all) use LR. I could be wrong. While it's not the fault of Linux that Adobe doesn't develop for the platform, sadly it's just business :-(. There is limited incentive for them to do it from a business standpoint. I too am agnostic - I dislike all operating systems equally.

    Trying Linux

While I totally agree with you, I think that is becoming less of an issue these days - so much is moving to pure online (Google Docs/Mail/etc) or even javascript based desktop applications (e.g. slack). I still doubt Linux well ever become a mainstream desktop OS (that said, let's not forget...

    OLYMPUS LENSES ON PANASONIC BODIES

I think the Panasonic DFD is only compatible (or at least works better) with Panny lenses.

    OLYMPUS LENSES ON PANASONIC BODIES

You're correct about the stabilisation differences. There are some small bits of functionality that only work on "native" (as in same manufacturer) lenses. Like olympus focus stacking and the pro-capture. Also OIS + IBIS. e.g. EM-1ii + oly 300mm/12-100 or the Panny G80/G9 + Panny 100-400/12-60/etc

    Vintage Cameras - clean/repair?

Well I can confirm the model IIIa now! A little disappointing to see that store isn't there anymore. Would have loved to take this in to give them a laugh.
