I tend to stick with same brand as camera to ensure maximum compatibility . I've had a few disappointments over the years by buying 3rd party lenses . Only exception is where camera maker doesn't have a model to my specs of focal length etc or their price is outside my budget league...

Thanks Chris . No it was a single image shot with moderate wide-angle (90 mm) on largeformat film camera with vertical shift adjustment , and I cropped sides slightly in post-scan editing . cheers db3348

Yes John all f/ numbers are affected to some extent . If you weren't already aware, f/number values are traditionally derived from expressing physical diameter of aperture as a fraction of the focal length , e.g., f/4 means the physical aperture diameter is 1/4 of the focal length, f/8...
