Thanks for the response, Garry. I tried this after reading your post; went from 1sec - to 1/250th, but the output remained the same. The studio lights are firing, but they're either too early or too late, but definitely not synch'd. It's almost as though the flash is sending a test burst...

Can anyone solve this problem for me: I have a studio fitted with 2 x pro-line heads in softboxes and 2 x pro-line slaves with shoot through brollies. I shoot manual with a synch cord fitted to one of the heads. The other head and the 2 x slaves take their cue from the light I'm tethered...

@oxygen I have the st-e2 trigger and 2 x 430ex flashes and I've had some terrific results (and fun) with them. I do also have a small studio with 4 x flash-heads which does allow more scope. But I have to say that I prefer working with the st-e2 set-up when doing portraiture and still-lifes...

You can also buy the Canon ST-E2 trigger which offers ttl as well as manual triggering.

The consensus of opinion suggests that it will be September before they announce the Mk.2. I bought mine just a month ago; didn't think there was much point in waiting as the 5D is a fantastic piece of equipment and, while the Mk.2 will doubtless be of higher spec, it'll also cost a few bob...
