    By pointing the flash upwards you're lighting up the sky, this has no impact on your picture a Unless there is something (like a ceiling indoors) to bounce the flash light off.

    I say capture the moment and the memories. I mean a close up of baby wrapped in a blanket, which is being held by mum. Mum gazing into babies eyes, taken over her shoulder. Baby in cot, with teddy bears etc. The room full of cards. It's an important time, and these shots will be looked back on...

    Best advice I would give is to put a little more distance between yourself and your dog. You dog is pretty close, especially given the range of the lenses you mentioned you owned, and you're probably hitting minimum focus distance for your lens (it will not focus on things that are really close...

    Pop in to any well established commercial printers, they'll have a drum scanner gathering dust at the back of their studio and will happily scan slides / film to fill their quiet times.

    Hi guys, Looking for some ideas of what to upgrade my D300 to? Want to stick with Nikon. Was considering a second hand D610 but I like the idea of staying DX as it gives me extra reach with my 300mm when photographing animals. What are your thoughts?
