FD to EOS lens issue

I have just received a Canon FD 135mm lens, I have a FD-EOS adapter. Lens fits on the camera very well. My problem is I am unable to get any image to focus correctly is there a specific adaptor or is the lens just no good. The lens was bought off ebay and was specified as working correctly. Any...
