Do DSLR's still have a place

Really helpful . Thanks . I remember the a7 being a great piece of kit . He has asked to stay with canon ( they use at school) . If I can’t get my old 550d to work what would you recommend from canon ?

Do DSLR's still have a place

Thanks everyone . He’s using a canon at school and prefers to stick with the same brand . Fair enough I thought . Found my old 550 . Can’t get it to turn on but might be battery problem so ordered a new battery and see if that helps .

    First DSLR - Question& Ideas

They'll all up to the job mate . I'd suggest canon as lenses second hand are easier to come by . But just pick the one you like the best . You'd be better off with a prime for portrait photography . Mind the nifty fifty which you mention is great in good natural light but not so good in low...

    fuji x100 neck strap

Hi All Love my fuji x100 but what I'd really like it a good neck / shoulder strap for it. Ideally one that won't scratch the body. Can anyone recommend one please? Thanks David

Street photography - 35mm or nifty fifty

I would try both . Depends on what u are after . 35 most flexible as u can move forward . 50 u can't always move back . Mind I love a 50 on a crop sensor but maybe that's me . I like to get more portrait like shots in .

    Beginner Equipment advice needed

Ps one thing with kids - you want a fast shutter speed as the ability to take a lot of shots per second as well as fast focusing I have a 50mm 1.4 on a canon 550d . Perfect for lots of occasions. .

Beginner Which zoom lens to buy?

Have a play and you'll see what you prefer . 6ft is fine for the 55 . Pros will often have two camera for this problem so there's one for u to think about - lol
