    RIP Gary Coyle

Such sad news, I only ever met Gary the once when I picked up a tripod off him that he wanted rid of whilst he was having his kitchen done. He was a genuine bloke, who was very generous with his time and had some great stories and the way he told them. A real loss to our community. My thoughts...

Workshop If you ever visit Bruges

Lovely place to take photographs, something amazing to see every corner you turn. I was there with a friend back in March this year. We also visited Ghent, which is a great spot to do a night shoot. I would definitely visit both these places again.

    Road trip to Paris

Thanks for the heads up on Lille, maybe we will spend a little more time in Ghent. :) Will do Liam and thanks for your input. Getting close now, can't wait to get going:)

    Road trip to Paris

Thanks for the input Tringa, we have the timetable all planned out, granted it was a bit rushed late one evening. We,ve limited time in Paris, which is fine because we think we know what we want to photograph there. Never been to Ghent, so really looking forward to visiting there. It's a shame...

Advice on battery grip for Canon 30D

Hi Glenn, thanks for that advice, I agree about the portraits comment makes things a lot less fiddly from what I can see. I'm going to see how I get on with the "loaner" whilst discovering if it's going to be something that I can't live without. Watch this space ha ha. Dave.

Advice on battery grip for Canon 30D

Dave. Hi Pete, that's a really kind offer, but my mate is giving me the loan of his for my trip and said that if I'm interested he'll sell it to me. So I'll see how I get on with it. Many thanks though. Dave.

Advice on battery grip for Canon 30D

Didn't see any new ones for £60, only one I saw was for £120. Not really that keen on buying second hand, a few bad experiences (not camera gear). Might have the loan of one sorted for my road trip, so at least I'll see whether it's something I want to invest in for the future.

    Non UK Tripods and Iceland

The law of sod strikes again. I'm sure you'll get some shots next time. Just to pick you up on "it wasn't too cold" -5 exaclty my point about being too cold lol. It might be me being a bit soft, but -5 too much for me ;). Glad you enjoyed the trip though :)

Advice on battery grip for Canon 30D

Thanks, for that Jon. Might have to do a bit more reading on that. Might not be that essential for my needs. We'll see :-)

Advice on battery grip for Canon 30D

I've had a look at the Meike brand and there seem to be good reports about them. Does any one now anything about the one with the LCD panel on it, what it does? or is it just a gimick?

Advice on battery grip for Canon 30D

Hi everyone, After all the top tips I got on here for purchasing a polarising filter. I thought I would put it out there about battery grips.............. are they essential to have in my kit??? If so which one???? I get the benefits to having one, i.e portrait shots, longer shooting times...

    What polarising filter???

Well its been ordered, a Kenko Pro1 Digital DMC with low profile frame. So I guess We'll see when it arrives. Thanks for all the comments guys. Dave.

    What polarising filter???

Exactly Demon, it'll be nice to have it as part of my kit and I certainly wont be breaking the bank to have one. There are a few other goodies that I'm after for my kit bag.
