Disagree. If you have a bunch of decent but not amazing shots, and you've achieved the look you're going for, then you may as well delete the raw files rather than taking up huge amounts of storage! Additionally, i don't the analogy really works - rolls of film weren't using up expensive hard...

Go second hand. I got a beautiful £150 Cullman for £15 from gumtree :)
