Cheers for all the advice guys, got a hard choice to make now. New small river fly fishing rod (just broke mine) or the wildlife lens........... think the lens is edging it at the moment.
I do a lot of fishing and as a result spend a lot of time smashing through undergrowth and submerged in water, laying on rocks etc... My poor little Canon compact has now taken all it can of the abuse involved in trying to get shots in these circumstances and after the latest in a repeated line...
No worries, just hope this is not as serious as it sounds, hopefully immunity can spread and all will be fine. Dont like the idea of a land with less finches.
Am I missing something with these? I am very new to photography but they do absolutely nothing for me?!
Composition is a bit iffy and the blurry shot is awful, also black and white pics to record an era famous for its bold colours seems an odd choice to me.

I think that I am pretty settled on the 150-500mm then. Hopefully will help me improve enough that when I can finally afford some really nice lenses my pics will be up to their standards.

I am sorry if this has been done to death but I could not find threads with advice specific to nature photography. I am the lucky position where I spend a lot of time in some astonishing scenery with an abundance of wildlife and would love to start taking some decent photos...
Very new to photography and just about finding my feet with how to use the camera properly and composition exposure etc...
I have one niggling problem that has presented itself a couple of times now. I have been shooting showjumping in very bright weather and in order to get a nice exposure...

Got my first dSLR yesterday and took it out for a spin today. Got a long way to go before I produce images as good as those on here but thought I would share some anyway.
Any advice on where I need to improve will be greatly appreciated! Really stumbling in the dark at the moment...
