Sandisk Ultra (SDHC) for me. More than fast enough for my needs.

    Filter for 10-20mm lens

UV filter just protects the lens. You decide if you think you need that. CPL filters can give strange effects on uwa lenses. I tried one on my 10-20mm and got very patchy skies in sunny conditions.

Global warming is it our fault?

There are two ways to look at it, two attitudes to take. The first is 'sod the planet, sod the future', we'll use whatever resources we want, we'll pollute the atmosphere, the seas, the land, we'll strip every natural resource until there's nothing left, we wont care about the countless other...

    Nikon General Lens

If you get the D90 the 18-105mm kit lens is a good un. I'd say go for that and see how you get on.

    Joby Gorrilapod

I have the SLR Zoom version. Works OK for those times you can't be arsed carrying a proper tripod. Can be a pain to set up though. I use it with the 496RC2 head. Don't think there's much difference between that and the 486RC2, it's just the newer model, it has a friction control knob that I...

Have you considered Cokin instead? Much cheaper!

    Maybe a Nifty Fifty?? Help

A 35mm on a cropped-sensor DSLR will sometimes make you work more for your photos. You might have to move about a bit but more often than not this is a good thing. It slows you down, it makes you think more about what you're doing rather than just zooming and clicking away from the first...

    Nikon 35mm 1.8 v 50mm 1.8

Surely it depends on what you want the lens for rather than price  The 35mm gives you normal perspective on DX. Ideal for lanscapes and anything else where you want a 'standard' field of view. I've got it, it's a good un. The 50mm is in effect a short telephoto on DX. You might...

    Nikon D60 v Nikon D3000

The D60 is discontinued, the D3000 basically replaces it as Nikons entry level DSLR. You could get a second-hand D60 but just a few quid more more gets you a brand-new D3000. Price is now only about £369 from jessops with Nikon cashback (I think you can get a further 4% off using Quidco too...

    DOF Preview

You do see dimming of the viewfinder, but I find it impossible to see what's in focus and what's not. Waste of time I think.

    What siggy 10-20

If you can afford the Sigma f3.5, then get the Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 instead. If you can find one. I have the F4-5.6 Sigma, got it because I couldn't find a Tokina at the time and the F3.5 Sigma wasn't available then. It's good but not as sharp as I'd like. Most people seem to say that the...

    Polarising Filter

I use Hoya Pro1 too. Great filters but not cheap, cost me £45 for a 67mm one off amazon.

    D90 or D300s?

The D90 certainly doesn't feel nor look cheap. It's a great camera and has a good quality feel to it. Put a battery grip on it and it 'feels' even better. Build quality seems good enough, unless you're thinking about kicking the thing down the street. Yes, I have a D90, and I love it. I did...
