Can i be classed as a Pro?

As far as my understanding is, if you earn money from it you're a professional.

It is Panto season after all !!!

I haven't had this problem with my childrens schools or playgroups, thankfully and we have been able to take photos of or girls performances. I have to admit though that at my eldest daughters school play it felt like the pap had come down, there were so many flashs going off all through the...

    Documenting family life

I normally have a camera near at hand and use it most days. It's easier to show Ofsted what I do with the children I look after, and this naturally has led me to take pictures of my own family at all times (my wife is starting to become less camera shy). My father is the same with a video...

    new D300

There's an 'on' button! I thought for that amount of money it'd come with voice recognition :D Currently waiting for mine to be delivered. My decent glass doesn't look right on my SILVER D40 :cuckoo: Alex

    What to do?!

GLASS, GLASS, GLASS! Just purchased a 70-200vr 2.8 myself and even my wife can see the difference it makes on my humble D40 (waiting for my D300 to arrive). Another bonus it gave me, is the fact that my brother now has lens envy :D As others have said price of glass goes up and bodies go...

    Canon to Nikon

If it were me, I'd wait as you've got some nice glass for the Canon already. The money you'd save would be lost in the new glass you'd have to purchase. Plus the wife would kill me if I'd invested so much then traded it all in for another system. Alex

Is A J Purdy in trouble?

Took delivery today :D Yep ME! Bestest birthday EVER!!! To be honest I was getting really worried that I'd lost my money. Paid for it on Debit card (won't be doing that again) on Tuesday night. My Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 lens arrived today. I hope they haven't gone this lens looks...

Is A J Purdy in trouble?

I've bitten the bullet and ordered a nikon 70-200 f2.8 lens @ £885. I'll give them a call in the morning to make sure one's coming to me. *everything crossed* Alex

    obsessed.

I'm beginning to become obsessed, I must take after my father. He took his camera and lenses with him everywhere inc his 500mm. The classic was when we were on holiday in Greece and my mum begged him to leave his gear at the hotel on the last night. We walked down the road to the restuarant...

    D90 or D300 plus lenses

I've seen the thread and a PM has been sent thanks. Fingers crossed. I did look at the 80-200 f2.8, but I decided that I wanted to go for the best that I could afford/squeeze to. Alex

    D90 or D300 plus lenses

Thanks guys, I've decided to go for the D300 plus the 70-200mm f2.8 lens. It takes me slightly over budget and I need to ask for money for my birthday and Christmas so I can buy my wife her macro lens, but I think it's going to be worth it. Didn't realise this forum was soooo expensive ;) Alex

    D90 or D300 plus lenses

Thanks for the replies, but my head is really starting to hurt. I've decided that I shall invest in the 70-200mm 2.8 lens, now it's just the rest. The D200 does sound tempting but I am worried about buying 2nd hand (no warranty) and also it's performance in low light, how does it compare to...
