    Spider ID

If it was one of those it was a baby as it's abdomen wasn't yellowy like that, but the rest of it looks like it! I don't mind spiders unless they invade my personal space without my say so! I did plan to put it on some white paper to see if I could get a pic (highly unlikely as my lens...

    Spider ID

I have posted this here as I can't get a good enough shot to show you, but I've found a small spider in my bathroom (approx 0.5cm including legs). It is red which is why I'm so intrigued. It's not a 'blood' spider as it's too big and a darker shade of red. It has a large abdomen which is...

    Help, something's wrong!

Phew, panick over! You were both right...blondie here had changed the setting! As for the distorted pics, I'm confident that's nothing to do with the camera itself, which is what I was worried about. Thank you for your help!! :notworthy:

    Help, something's wrong!

I'm not sure whether it is the camera or the memory card but something is broken... When I take shots that have light areas, those light areas flash when I look at the pictures on the camera's screen. When I upload the pictures they are fine, but when viewed on the camera's screen the...

    Taking pictures in public...

Thanks, was just reading the other thread about the whole 'are you a terrorist because you have a SLR out' situtation and I'm thinking that even if I am technically allowed to take pictures around people I might avoid it for the time being anyway!!:thumbsdown::thumbsdown::thumbsdown:

    Taking pictures in public...

Sorry if this is another noob question but I want to know what I'm doing before I go out taking pictures where people might be in the shot... Can anyone confirm whether I am 'allowed' to take pictures: (a) In a shop (like a supermarket) and what, if any, permission I need to get first...

    I was Just wondering...

I don't, I work in finance (mortgages & insurance). I did want to study photography when I went to college, however my dad wouldn't let me chose any subjects unless they were 'academic'. Now that I'm older I have started it up as a hobby and will see what happens.

    TP - Appreciate it!!

Can't say anything that hasn't already been said, but I wanted to post to show I also REALLY appreciate having TP to help me. I have taken some pics I am proud of and I couldn't have done it without the help from you lot!!

    Gimp

That's a site to host images, I'm not quite sure how that will help me learn how to change the colour of my border?

    Gimp

Ok, I've got as far as resizing the image. At the moment the image is surrounded by a checkered border. Being a total noob though I can't work out how you change the colour of that part  Can anyone help me?

    Gimp

Not sure if this should go here or in the 'guides' section. If i've got it wrong please move this thread... I was just wondering if anyone could tell me how to make a decent border for my pics using gimp (just got my first DSLR and have no photo editing kit yet). Cheers Julia

    Cameras2u.com

hehe, what can I say, I like to be in front of the camera as well as behind it :p I called, and all they would do is look on the city link site to see where the order is (which I can do myself). This doesn't help as they haven't receieved it yet. Time to start writing my letters :bat: Edit...

Aw thank you. Good idea about getting a senior's name, I'll try that! I'm going to call at 4.30pm to check if there's been any progress finding my camera (:bang:), then I'll start on the complaining. My dad's a barrister so I'll see if he can help me make things sound as formal as possible.
