Polariser doesn't clear my wide angle 10-24mm Nikkor :/

I bought a Hoya Circular Polariser for my Nikkor 10-24mm ultra wide angle lens. But the filter cuts out the corners of the image so I've had to return it. So, I could go for a slim filter version or, could I go for an 82mm filter with a step up ring? Or both, by going for the rare and expensive...

    Taking indoor photos in clubs

Guys just want to than you for the advice. I've only managed to take a few indoor pics so far, but it's working great so far. The blog tutorial was a good tip. There's also some good tips I got off Rockwell's site (yeah I know you all hate him ;) http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/flash.htm

    Taking indoor photos in clubs

My girlfriend recently showed me photos taken from her Christmas party at the Forbidden Temple club in Clapham. They were taken by the official club photographer. The photos were done in dark conditions yet came out really bright and really sharp. Here's some pics in their gallery, presumably...

Anyone tell if this B&W c-pol is genuine?

If I look thru it at a computer monitor it appears to work, making the monitor look black or white depending on the rotation. But out in the field, on a sunny day, at 90 degrees to the sun, no matter what I try it will only slightly reduce reflections from water surfaces.

Anyone tell if this B&W c-pol is genuine?

I bought this B+W polarising filter during my travels. At the time I didn't even know who B+W were and assumed I was getting a cheapo filter. I didn't keep the packaging, but I recall that the hologram looked "basic". It cost $30 (bargained from $40) and was bought in a proper looking camera...

Anyone actually replaces front element of a lens?

In trying to decide whether to use protective filters, for the decision I want to know if the front element of a Nikkor lens can be replaced in a worst case scenario. Some people have said that the front element of a lens can be replaced, others have said it can't. Has anyone actually done it or...

Protective filters that can be cleaned?

Can the Hoya filters be regularly cleaned without messing up the coating?

Protective filters that can be cleaned?

I've read that the Hoya UV filters have special coatings which mean that they cannot be wiped clean because wiping causes smears. Is that really true? The B+W are supposed to be better but can they be regularly wiped or cleaned? I'm basically just looking for a protective filter. I use my...

    Very techie HDR questions

So with help from people here I've been using HDR in some situations with difficult lighting, and it's been successful. Now just working on how to make HDR photos look natural :) These questions are just me trying to get an understanding of the background theory. It's not important to the...

Using Tokina 11-16mm on FX camera?

I will start to upgrade the lenses as well. It'll be a gradual process starting with the most important lenses first.

Using Tokina 11-16mm on FX camera?

So a DX lens won't cover an FX sensor. But does the coverage stop exactly at the 1.5 crop area or does it stretch a bit beyond? So if I use the 11-16mm Tokina lens on an FX camera then could an extra 1mm or so focal length be squeezed out? This would rely on the FX camera being set to work...

What happened when Canon changed to EF mount in 1987?

Hi. I'm starting to think about upgrading to full frame. I don't feel obliged to stick with Nikon. I've seen that Canon do nice lenses that Nikon don't have equivalents for, and vice versa. I've read that Canon change their lens mount system every so often. Can anyone tell me what happened when...

    HDR tips for newbie?

I tried using a single RAW shot to process a HDR image and the result wasn't very good. The image was noisy and odd looking. But I've only just started so I don't know. I took 9 shots for my HDR images. But I actually found I got a better result when I only used 4 or 5 of them in Photomatix...

    HDR tips for newbie?

Guys, thanks for all the advise. I'm a bit embarrassed to put up photos yet, but I'll psyche myself up to it eventually :) They did come out ok though. I tried Photomatix (sorry Russell, I'd downloaded it before I saw your post). Photomatix seems to give better results than Photoshop CS6 did. I...

    HDR tips for newbie?

Guys, I did a few shots out in the field today in HDR. I photographed a temple in a field and it worked well, except that the image looked flat. I then photographed a temple in the jungle. The finished HDR image came out with grey areas, wierd colours and steps in colours. I then moved the...
