    10-20 Lens.

I have a Tokina 12-24 on my 40d and love it. Well loved it until the motor developed a fault. I need to send it off for repair. I bought it second hand off here and took it round Oz a couple of months ago and it was my most used lens. It's a constant f4 so pretty good in lower light situations...

    Australian Camera store charging windowshoppers

Sorry my post was perhaps unclear. When they advised they could not repair they said that the best bet was to buy a new Nikon Coolpix P500 from them as a replacement until I can get the 40d fixed. That was the camera I was referring to as having an LCD viewfinder not the Canon. Went for a...

    Australian Camera store charging windowshoppers

... and from my experience you would be lucky to get any advice once you had paid the $30! ... I am on a 2 month tour of Australia and my 40d has had enough, producing an error code 99 and refusing to take any pictures. Tried the internet advice of remove battery ... but no luck so went into...

    Australian Tour - landscape lens

Thanks Jim, I will have to try the Canon as well. It is a bit over budget to be honest, although I might keep an eye out for a second hand one if it is significantly better. Will probably drop into Jessops this week and see if they will let me try a few out.

    Nifty Fifty hunting!

Mine is a bit slow to focus sometimes compared to my Sigma 18-200, and just hunts with my Kenko tubes attached. I have come to the conclusion that it likes lots of light and that is the issue

    Australian Tour - landscape lens

Thanks Jim. You are correct, I had misunderstood a couple of websites which seem to quote the fitting on the f3 as cropped, but fewer seem to state the same for the f4-5.6. Do you have any experience of either lens and whether the f3 is worth the extra £120 or so? Are there any recommended...

Australian Tour - Bag advice please

Thanks for your comments and advice here. I am still swaying towards a camera specific bag Matt (feels safer somehow, and I don't need a back pack in the traditional sense if I have a camper van, as that can move my other stuff!). Both those bags look great Graham / Lewis, the ThinkTank is very...

Canon 40D or Nikon D90. Help needed

Quick question, sorry! People have mentioned on here the number of shutter accentuations. Is that the number of times the shutter opens and closes? If so how can you tell how many times it has worked? Is there a guide to how many times it 'should' last, and is there any way to extend its...

Australian Tour - Bag advice please

I am lucky enough to be off to Australia for 2 months in October, then meeting up with my wife for a month in California over Christmas (seeing her Brother and family) and New Year. Whilst in Australia the plan is to spend just short of a week in Sydney and Blue Mountains, then 5 weeks or so...

    Australian Tour - landscape lens

I am lucky enough to be off to Australia for 2 months in October, then meeting up with my wife for a month in California over Christmas (seeing her Brother and family) and New Year. I want a decent landscape lens. I have got a Canon 40d, so I am thinking that the sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM...

    Canon Lens EF 50mm f1.8 Mk I

I bought a nifty fifty about 2 - 3 months ago and love it (the Mark ii). The comments on build quality are interesting however. The first one I got had a dust piece (not a spec as it looked massive with the naked eye!!!). Jessops were great and swapped it straight away. Strangely it doesn't...

How do YOU find the location?

Off topic - those photos are amazing George, and what an opportunity to get to see such amazing machinery up close! The locations are amazing too - love the 2 Rollers in front of the stately home

Sad Day For Famous Car Fans

I had seen the signs a few times but never been. I was always a bit confused as to whether it would be any good or not because as others have said the place looked a bit ramshackle. Wasn't he supposed to have numerous original Bond cars including the Goldfinger DB??? Nevermind there is always...
