I've joined TP hoping to learn a bit more about macro photography.
I've been offered the Canon 100USM macro and the Sigma 180mm lenses by a friend of a friend.
Both seem reasonably priced and within my price range.
Which is the best to go for?

Will have a look and let you know how I get on.
I have the camera sensor clean on,but got the odd speck of dust still present.=, so guessing a manual clean is required.

Anybody clean their own sensors?
If so, what do you use and what technique? I've got a Canon with a crop sensor if that makes any difference?

Is it a reputable repair centre or just a high street shop with no technical expertise maybe? Mind you if they charged for it, you'd expect some confidence in being sucessful.

That's interesting. So you find with using the primes that you have to move a lot, ot do the lengths led themselves well to the surroundings and photo types?
Where were you setting the exposure? Were you shooting in manual?
Not sure it would work but suggest you set exposure on the face with a lighter in front to get correct exposure.
Alternately, take one shot of the face and one of the lighter and merge to get correct exposure on both parts of...
