    South-West England Poppies in Dorset/Wiltshire/Hampshire

I wouldn't bother with the field that was near Blandford - I visited a few weeks ago and it was way past its best even then. I did spot a very nice field of poppies right next to the Stonehenge Visitor Centre last weekend. Not much in the way of points of interest around it though.

    South-West England Swanage old pier

Not easy to access at sunrise/sunset. The pier has limited opening times (check website) and will only be open outside of these times if there is a diving party on the pier, I believe. The floating platform that gets in the way of any decent shot is usually only there in the summer. It was...

Bargain SIRUI T-005X - aluminium lightweight tripod in red

Good tripod - I've had one for a while now and it 's great for a CSC outfit. Ended up changing the head though as I prefer the Manfrotto QR system.

Visiting the Shard - Advice on taking a 'large' bag

Hmm, that's a shame - I took up and used my GorillaPod Focus (biggest one they do) last year without any problems or questioning.

    Worbarrow bay - Dorset.

Yep, the bay is within the firing range so you will either need to be there at the weekend or check on the Dorset for You website for open times. The car park you need for Worbarrow is the Tyneham one, and it's a short walk down to the beach. The car park is shut at dusk, but you can park up at...

wide angle lens for Sony nex

One more recommendation for the Samyang 12mm f/2.0. Got mine a month or two back and it's not been off my NEX5R since. Most of my recent pics on Flickr are taken with it. Very sharp lens indeed. :)

    The Shard - Tripods??

I took a GorillaPod up with me which worked as well as anything. As has already been mentioned, the glass is double or triple glazed and so using a rubber hood/shielding the lens is mostly useless as you still get reflections. The higher level is better as there aren't as many panes of glass.

South-West England Kimmeridge Bay - High or Low tide?

Definitely low tide. At high tide the famous ledges are under water.

SONY NEX to Nikon G adapter - can you recommend?

Hi all :) Last week I purchased from eBay an adapter to use Nikon lenses on my SONY NEX5R. Took it out to test for the first time on Saturday evening to try a long exposure or two, and to my horror ended up with images smeared in light! Got home and shone a torch into the adapter to see a...

Memory cards, get what you pay for or are they all the same?

When I recently went into my local camera shop to buy a new card, I was told that there are only a couple of manufacturers who make memory cards, they just put different labels on them. Don't know how much truth there is in that, but it wouldn't surprise me.

    Mupe bay

Here are the opening times for the ranges: http://www.dorsetforyou.com/lulworth-range-walks It's quite easy to find once you get walking. You'll need to get to the far side of Lulworth Cove, either via the beach, or over the top (I recommend the beach!), then up the steps and just follow along...

What 10 Stop and What ND grads do i need?

I'm always going to recommend LEEs, but they're difficult to get hold of at the moment. I wouldn't recommend using Cokins with the B+W110 (if that's your plan) as the colour cast from the Cokins will appear worse with a much longer exposure. Not sure why this is, but that's the experience I...

    Sigma 10-20mm

The maximum aperture is one way of looking at it, but like you say it's not the kind of lens that you will use wide open. The other thing to consider is the slightly wider maximum aperture which will mean that the lens is brighter to look through and therefore compose an image. I personally...

    ND Filters?

To balance the difference in light between the sky and land, ND grads are the way to go. Usually you can get a set of 1, 2, and 3 stop grads, so you can use the correct strength that you need, or you can use more than one at once if needed.
