I think I am looking for a home cloud solution but no idea

By the way, I also use Time Machine, it goes hand in hand with the NAS server.

I think I am looking for a home cloud solution but no idea

When I looked into the online options, I saw that they cost hundreds of pounds a year. I opted for a solution with a Synology server and I'm happy with it (it's a sincere opinion, I have no connection with that company). I have 20 terabytes of storage. Maybe that would suit you too.

    Airport Security

Sorry if this is off topic, but I was at Fuerteventura airport last Saturday and I only had my identity card (my biometric passport was left at home). They just had a quick look at my card and nothing else. No biometry checks or anything, either on entry into the country or on exit, and I'm...

    Which Mac Mini ?

I do agree with you ;) Basic models are cheap, but they can get really expensive when you add something extra. Mine is used for work, which is why I chose the 48 GB model. As other posters have said, 16 GB should be enough. You should see a big difference with the M chip. This processor's...

    Which Mac Mini ?

My last computer was a 2019 iMac with an i9 CPU and 128 gigabytes of RAM and I now have a Mac Mini with an M4 Pro CPU and 48 gigabytes of RAM. I use Capture One, not Lightroom, and I don't know how things would go with Lightroom, but, in my case, the Mini is a lot quicker. For instance, Capture...

    Affinity is now free

Just a thought: the Affinity suite replaces Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign, but not Lightroom.

Flickr making another play to "entice" people to go Pro?

Interesting! I'm almost sure that the previous Flickr licence afforded much greater protection. That was before SmugMug bought Flickr. Unfortunately, I didn't keep a copy, so maybe I'm wrong.

Flickr making another play to "entice" people to go Pro?

I see what you mean, but, then, how can Flickr have a much more protective licence?

Flickr making another play to "entice" people to go Pro?

I'm not particularly a fan of Flickr, and I'm willing to believe it's dead, but what are the alternatives? The other services I know have unacceptable terms of service. Facebook is an example: "Specifically, when you share, post or upload content that is covered by intellectual property rights...

MacOS 15.4.1 not displaying Z 9 Lossless compression thumbnails

On my Nikon Z 9, pictures are recorded in Lossless compression format, not in High efficiency. MacOS Sequoia is supposed to be able to display the thumbnails, but I only get the generic icon created by NX Studio. Any idea why?

    Capture One

Just curious, what happens to your edited files if you stop paying Capture One subscription?

How to convert "High Efficiency" Nikon files?

Thank you very much, lots of information in there! Apparently those "High Efficiency*" files are almost raw and I'll have to make do with today's pictures in that format. At least, FastRawViewer solves the Finder issue.

How to convert "High Efficiency" Nikon files?

On my Nikon Z 9, I always use the Nef format, but, yesterday, my camera switched somehow to a format called "High Efficiency*", which is apparently a fake raw format (if it's lossy, it cannot be called raw). And now all of today's pictures are in this format. How can I convert these files into...
