    Looking at off camera flash

just buy a good flash, it does not have to be top end, then get a hahnel radio wireless trigger (50 pound) then a reflector (a tenner) ' then top up with stuff when you need it. Dont make the mistake of buying to much kit at the start because you will probably end up realising you didn,t need...

Review nikon 135mm f2'8 ai mf

What an amazing quality lens, I bought one about a year ago (135 quid)and use it on my d700, it has beautifull natural contrast and definition. Thers a lot to be said for these old amazingly built optics, and I quite like using manual focus.

    white balance

I,m thinking that maybe top end dslr have a large bit depth of colour so there is more to go wrong but as I shoot raw I then have the option to change in acr, this you could not do with a weak colour depth from a mobile or compact. I agree with the statement above ,when I shoot a sunset I dont...

Shooting TTL flash with a shoot through umbrella - any issues?

I dont understand why you would want to use ttl through a brolly, isn,t manual best, even though you have to keep tweaking it, I think you will have to more with ttl, also when you want more or less power you will be constantly use expo comp.

    My pro boxing shoot

Great shot in the first update, but last two edits for me are terrible, the skin is way to smooth, please dont forget the idea was a picture of a boxer and not a vogue make up ad. Sorry if this seems harsh to some, but the only reason I say this is because the first edit is already an excellent...

    Anyone done any newborn shoots?

I think baby shots look much better with natural light, why not try close to a window and use a reflector as the fill, and I would move in closer . I agree with one of the replys , the focus does seem on the barrel. Chris

    help with nikon speedlight choice

I have the sb900 and 700 and I prefer the 700, it does pretty much all the 900 and910 does but with out the long whinded menu. At least the 700 has the option to alter the flash spread with a switch on the back, on the 900 you have to go into a crazy menu system. One thing I just cant get my...

    Off Camera Flash?

When you set your d90 to commander mode you can also set it so the camera flash is off, it still fires but at a fraction of a second out of timing so it sets of the remote flash unit but does not affect the picture. I have several flashes but prefer to use one to the side of the model then a...

Buying my first lighting equipment and help with set up?

Hi Ben First thing that came to my mind was a radio trigger to fire the flash off camera, and then a large white reflector. If you intend to shoot through a brolly it must be placed close to the model especially if the flash has a low power output. Try having the flash above head hight facing...
