I just took my new (to me) 40d on holiday and would like to clean all the filters and lens optics now I am back. All my lenses have filters so lens should be fairly straightforward but the filters could do with something slightly more. I have absolutely no kit or prior experience here so basic...
I have just bought the above bag and am now trying to figure out the best way to setup the dividers to take a canon 40d with attached 17-85 mm lens and additional 30mm sigma lens.
Sound simple?
It's not.
It's like the photographic equivalent of a rubiks cube.
I have searched for pictures...
I have a g9 and would definitely recommend one. Just bought a 40d though as the main area where the canon g series cameras let you down is in low light. The noise coming from a tiny sensor crammed with pixels can be quite bad. High iso performance is not their strong point.
However on a nice...
Its done. I saw the light and went with the 40d. Managed to get one with the 17-85 canon lens for 480. I now have about £500 to spend on some prime lenses. Thinking sigma 30mm and canon 50mm f1.4 may just about creep in to that budget.
Thanks to those who posted with camera advice.
Ok. 5d it is. I can't resist the full frame and will upgrade lenses over time.
Lenses I am looking at are still 50mm 1.8 but with the option of
Sigma 24-70 2.8 and 28-70 2.8
Tamron 28-105 2.8 or 28-75 2.8
I like the idea of constant 2.8 and a 24 mm wide angle.
Any feedback or experience...
As the subject says. Assuming similar second hand quality which would you go for.
Pictures of the kids and landscape/holiday shots mainly.
Budget for lenses will be circa £300 with the 40d just being an option to spend less overall.
5d lens choices probably 50mm 1.8 and a sigma/tamron...
Make sure you shoot on tv( shutter priority setting). This means you can choose the speed you want and the camera should optimise aperture and iso to expose the shot correctly. This assumes there is enough light.
Thanks guys. I did try some playing about with various af modes as well when testing the 5d. Took me a while to figure out but there was a mode (think it was af servo) which tracked a moving object ( cat in my case) and focused based on speed of said object. Would this be the preferred method?
I started a previous thread to gather some opinion on the best way to spend £900 on some startup kit. The decision was between a canon 550d or canon 5d. having had a test of both now I am not sure about the build quality of the 550d in comparison to the 'built like a brick' 5d.
However what...
