telling which photo was taken with FF or MFT or CROP

True, hence the first part of my post and 'technically', I use a Canon FF and happy to admit they're way behind the curve on sensor quality compared to Sony. I do sharpen in LR, read a few things on the weird Fuji sharpening so I know that's not down to sensor size, but a good example of how we...

telling which photo was taken with FF or MFT or CROP

As said a few times in good light, mid aperture a modern crop sensor shouldn't be too obviously different to a FF version. It's difficult to do any fair comparison unless you're using the same lens as this could easily make a bigger difference to sharpness, contrast, colour, etc. than the sensor...

NAS / backup / storage questions and solutions

I can't speak from experience as I just use an offsite USB drive rather than cloud, though I've heard a few people using Amazon Prime and remembered Doug Chinnery mentioning one a while back which was this http://www.dougchinnery.com/syncservice/ - might be worth a look. I'd be even less help...

    Lightroom Screen Setup

Makes a lot of sense, I think having two different displays is useful for checking calibration etc. too, if the images looks similar and good on both that's a decent indication it's all right. I only have a laptop so the screen is fairly small and have a old 17" 4:3 screen above it for full...

NAS / backup / storage questions and solutions

I use 2x 3TB WD Red in my Synology NAS as they weren't too expensive at the time and supposedly better life than standard drives when run 24/7. Couple of thoughts though, the only point of RAID is protecting against drive failure, so if you're using RAID to an extent is it worth paying for more...

    Dealing with disappointing days

There's always going to be disappointing days, but I like the challenge of trying to get something half decent from even the worst trips. It's good to have a couple of projects ongoing or some different styles to try when the weather hasn't worked out how you wanted. Like others have said macro...

    Soft Water-Overdone?

This, I'm not saying water should always be done with a long exposure, but it can arguably better represent what we see than a freeze frame which can look very unnatural. I think it should be considered alongside every other technique and setting when looking at a scene, to judge whether it...

Common mistakes for Beginner landscape photographers

There's a lot of technical stuff in here which is important to know but the majority of it is decisions to be made once you've decided what type of image you want to create. Things like tripods and filters are required for some shots, useful for others, completely unnecessary sometimes and can...

Can't take photos here - your views please.

Regarding the discrimination thing, especially the post mentioning racism, the logic of not allowing DSLRs was fairly valid until a few years ago. Whether or not they think you may be profiting from the photos, having high quality pictures put online for free potentially undermines the...
