    D3100 Mirror Lock up

    On my D90 it's called Exposure Delay Mode in the menus. It doesn't actually lock the mirror up, it just flips the mirror up a second before the shot is taken which should allow any vibration to stop before the shot is taken. Not sure if that option is on the D3100, but I would imagine that's...

    Nikon 1.8 50mm D - Dilemma

    I'd second that. You might find the 50mm a bit tight on a crop sensor, especially if you're indoors. I've got the 35 1.8, and it stays on my d90 for shots of my 7 month old, and she's a fast mover!!
