    It's either under exposing or could be the Exposure compensation dial has been moved and needs to be re-adjusted.

    Beginner VR or non VR

    If you can afford it go for VR as it is better for slower shutter speeds and less likely to show any camera shake - especially at the 85 end.

    I shot the Northern lights in Iceland a number of years ago. I used various slow shutter speeds on a small tripod with a 28-70 on the wide angle side on manual focus near infinity. It's quite mesmerising when you see them and at the end of the day it's just as important watching it as capturing...

    50mm & 28mm vs 35mm

    I'd go 28mm, you can always crop in but you can't "crop out" and increase your angle of view. I've always liked both but if I only had the choice of one it would always be a 28mm.

    Colour vs B&W

    I like both mediums. I feel many natural features are captured well with Colour such as flowers, sunsets, creatures especially with contrasting colours. B&W I like the way it brings textures alive and can make landscapes more moody and dramatic. Horses for courses

    First of all it is a photogenic place, I've been there and around Bavaria a number of times as i have a German friend who studied in Erlangen. I never had any issues apart from when I was drinking beer and lots of it!

    I do hope those rolls that haven't been through the soup yet stand the test of time! Could add a bit of worn character to them if they're not 100% though!

    Production costs + Transport costs, both increased significantly. So glad I'm digital these days!
