They must have tougher babies in your part of the world. Down here 3 of the first five I shot with studio lights became inconsolable after the first 5 mins. As for brightness I often shoot with no lights, using an f2.8 aperture. The Interfit light is just used when its a particularly dim day/room.
I use one of these for photographing babies in their homes. Flash is no good as it distresses (sometimes) the baby, so a continuous cool light source is ideal, especially in a dimly lit room.
