    Tips on street photography?

Hmmmmm...yep, I think you're probably right. I think step 1's probably just to go and have a wander and see what I can see....without a shopping list or dashing for a bus. I suppose what I need to do really's look at it as though I've never been there before and see what jumps out at me.

This evening I have mainly been cooking...

Feeling very virtuous as I had v healthy salad (without dressing) - one of those interesting ones with salad leaves you can't pronounce - beetroot (loads of iron), a bit of quiche, and a huge dollop of my mum's infamous potato salad. *yum!*

    Tips on street photography?

I'm starting work soon on a website all about my local area, and of course along with all sorts of useful info about the area I'm going to need some nice images to brighten the site up and show the character of the place. Unfortunately at the moment my cameras are sitting unused and neglected...

    Using non-Canon converters/lenses with Canon A710IS

Thanks Ewan. You must be psychic - ebay was exactly where I was planning on shopping! After my ramblings last night though, and a bit of a rethink, I paid Jessops a visit this morning (not to actually buy anything - just to pick their brains) to try and get the whole filter thing...

    Open University: Digital Photography Course

I think part of the problem's that the lecturers on the whole are part-time associate lecturers in a lot of cases, and don't tend to frequent the conferences much. The full time ones (often the ones that have written the courses) tend to work office hours, so don't often tend to be around...

    Open University: Digital Photography Course

Hmmmm, interesting I've just found this thread, because the OU course is the one I'm planning on doing next (I'm an OU addict and did my degree with them, and I'm just finishing doing the Web Applications Certificate with them (on the last course)). They usually say 10 hours for the 10pt short...

    Using non-Canon converters/lenses with Canon A710IS

Having recently bought a Canon A710IS, I've been looking into the range of converters/lenses for it, and I've bought the Canon conversion lens adapter that's needed to anything with it, which has a 58mm thread at the front. Canon do a telephoto, wide angle and macro lens for the A710IS (using...

    Hi

Thanks for the welcome everyone, and the comments. I tend to rely on the camera's auto-focus doing it's stuff an awful lot (the Canon A710 IS does help with that because it shows which areas it's using for focusing), and if all else fails, and I end up with something blurred and out of...

things that can really turn you away from microshaft...

I did the same with that - installed the wotsit that stops IE7 installing, at least on my laptop. I only keep IE around for testing anyhow, but apart from IE's blatant disregard for web standards, I don't trust a browser that hides the menubar by default. Real smart move that was.

    save settings for webpages

I'm not familiar with that file extension either, so I looked it up and found this Wikipedia article. On whether links from page to page will work, it depends if the URL is specified as an absolute or relative location, i.e. http://www.sitename.com/page1.html or page1.html.

things that can really turn you away from microshaft...

Yep, that's the big problem with Linux, and I do think until it is more user friendly and better supported, it's not going to really take off. At the moment I play about with Knoppix, which runs off CD-ROM - nothing to install on the PC as an intro to the Linux world. The sad fact is that at...

things that can really turn you away from microshaft...

Well with Vista you're more than half way there! More bits of Mac coolness lifted borrowed lifted from Mac OS than you can shake a stick at. Or go get Linux. ;) As a web designer who wastes precious hours trying to get sites to work with Microshaft's incompetent browsers, I...
