If I were to replace the translucent material on my soft boxes with something a little thicker, should I prioritise the inner or outer panel?
ie with which would I see the best gains in evenness and softness?
Power is not a problem but I have just enough material for one or the other only.
Got a few I liked from an impromptu walk along a local beach with the Canon 300v loaded with FP4: I don't know if this unfortunate fish was left from an angler, or a victim of nature.
Decided to get some use from my Nettax the other day. Scanner's on the blink so I rephotographed the negatives on digital. Hoping to get time soon to print them 'properly' ;)
I have a couple of Godox DE300's, and an old, crotchety, temperamental (but still working!) Lencarta Ultra 600 Pro. The two DE300's get used most. They're going for about £70 each. They take Bowens fit modifiers, so plently of choice. The cost ratchets up by around £50 if you go for the radio...
Of the few I have, I find the Photax leaks least. It takes Paterson spirals too. But it is a little more fiddly to close in a changing bag than either the System 4 or Super System4.
There's a couple of options open to you.
For just developing film, you can use a changing bag and day light tank, such as the ubiquitous Paterson System4. Once loaded, as the name says, you can do the rest in the light. Then you can scan the negatives, or even use your dslr to photograph them...
Stick to the film/dev guides by Ilford for starters. It's a good baseline. You can fiddle about later :)
You'll find that emulsions and developers in inordinate combinations, give vastly different results.
Some may suit you, some may not.
Me, I like FP4 in Ilfsol.......... I also like Fomapan...
Another recent acquisition, Kiev 4. Took a gamble on sold-as-seen for less than£20. Sure enough, it was not working. But many q-tips, and much patience later, It's fine bar the rangefinder calibration. A job for another day though!
It looks like I last logged in 2015! I honestly thought my account would have expired, but on a whim, had a go at logging in :)
So pretty much new all over again.
I'm Mike, from Sunderland.
Looking forward to getting stuck in once more.
