    Returning to film

If you are an Olympus user then there is only one compact. The Trip. You too can be David Bailey and pay no more than £10 on ebay...

Equipment advice for a US roadtrip of a lifetime...

Not a Canon expert - but I'd take a small compact to keep in your pocket. There are moments when you just can't be arsed to lug the big stuff around on a trip like that and something like a S95 tucked in your pocket is a good idea. My other bit of advice would be to hire a bigger car than...

    D700 vs. 5D mkII

That's a bit harsh... apart from a few compacts I've never owned a Canon and just wanted to see if some of the grumbles on the 'net were real issues or not. I can see that you are obviously knowledgeable on Canon - sadly I'm not.

    D700 vs. 5D mkII

Hmm... I don't do studio stuff - it's mostly outdoors (motorsport/rugby etc.) so the weather sealing does matter. The D80 has got wet more times than I care to think about. FPS matters too - so I guess I'll stick with Nikon. Thanks everybody...

    D700 vs. 5D mkII

I've been a happy D80 user for the last 3 or 4 years - but now want to go FF. So Canon or Nikon? Just priced up a Canon kit (5D + 24/70 and 70/200) and it does seem quite a bit cheaper - especially the lenses. On the other hand the reviews seem to regard the D700 as a better product. Weather...

Cheapo Boots 200 film and scan. There is so much good stuff on here - it really is daunting.

    Nikon SLR help

Nikons from the '80's are all good! I have an F3 and it is a battered old thing but it all works perfectly. With £350 I'd put the money into Nikon glass and get a cheaper body to start with. F3's seem to have got very expensive. At the other end of the scale the EM is the smallest SLR made...

Thought I'd resurrect this thread. Here's a few of the shots that I cracked off after I bought the Holga in April...

    Thinking of getting a Nikon

Dint??? That's virginal by comparison... here's mine... on a serious note if you wear specs the F3HP is very good.

    thruxton

another vote for the complex... the other issue with Club is that you need to stand on the track side incline and shoot down onto the bikes - that always seems to lose a sense of speed. IMHO anyway. At least at the complex you can stand at ground level and shoot over the top of the fence. You...

Thx Arthur. I've got them out of order now I've resized them but basically they were cropped slightly in PP. However the scanning is a bit random so that's more likely the cause.

and now... a bit of B&W. Nikon F3HP, Nikkor 17-35mm f2.8 and Ilford FP4 - D&P at Ilford. Investment? A lot more than the last set... Just goes to show that money doesn't make much difference to street 'togging.

I've been lurking a while so here's a few - Olympus Trip 35 ("who do you think you are? David Bailey?"), an out of date German Kodak 200 film and Boots developing... total investment about £10.

A couple of rolls of out of date Velvia, a badly made camera with a plastic lens... nothing can possibly go wrong!
