Death of a loved one, and how to deal with it? [sensitive]

I can only offer you my deepest condolences Keith and a poem by David Harkins in the hope it may help in some way: You can shed tears that she is gone, Or you can smile because she has lived. You can close your eyes and pray that she’ll come back, Or you can open your eyes and see all she’s...

Beginner Street photography. harder than I thought.

Once upon a time, well about 20 or so years ago a person with a camera might go unnoticed. Camera phones were only just appearing on the market. I remember getting my first one in 2003. Sadly, these days if you carry a camera in the street you couldn't be more noticeable than if you carried an...

The infrastructure for EVs is nowhere near where it needs to be. I would consider an EV when this happens.... but probably not in my lifetime. Lol!

The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

The Sony 40mm/f2.5 goes well with my A7CII. I shot a young people's classical concert entirely with it. I did have my Tamron 70-180mm/f2.8 in the bag but didn't need it. For some of the shots I switched the camera to APS-C mode giving an effective focal length of of 60mm. Obviously at...

    Anyone still using camcorders

In all honesty the best smartphones take pretty good video - some can even do 8K. Their stabilisation is often good too. Some prominent YouTubers switch between 'proper' cameras and their phones, often finding the latter are better for walking and talking.

High-end bridge cameras: Sony RX10, Panasonic FZ1000 etc

I have owned several bridge cameras in my time. All have (ultimately) disappointed. The 1" sensor type are pretty good and the pricey ones can be quite pleasing. But they can be bulky and heavy even with the small sensor.

    videoing while walking

Oddly enough you will often find a decent smartphone will give better video stabilisation. I have tested this against my Sony A7CII and have encouraged others to give it a try. They have been as surprised as I was! It's quite disappointing really. But that's the reality.

    I really dislike EVF ‘s

I find the combination of EVF and the rear screen work fine for me. Too much guesswork involved in using an OVF.

A backpack to rule them all.

Ended up getting a Tarion TBS (12L) bag for £25. Comes with a rain cover. Compact and light as a feather (empty!) but will easily accommodate a FF mirrorless body, 4 lenses and, if I need them, flash and table tripod. Straps on bottom of the bag to carry a full size tripod/monopod.

A backpack to rule them all.

To be specific I have the Sony A7C II with Sony 24-105 G + Tamron 70-180 G2 + Sony 40 G + 28-60 kit lens. (Obviously the whole lot is a bit smaller than when, years ago, I had a Canon 5D2 DSLR and comparable lenses.) Thinking about it , I might also carry my Manfrotto Pixi tabletop tripod...

A backpack to rule them all.

It's donkey's years since I owned a 'proper' camera bag. I've made do with various shoulder bags etc. But having recently returned to full-frame I need to consider getting a dedicated camera backpack. Camera body with fairly large lens attached plus 3 other lenses, one large and two small. I...
