My personal preference is the silver. Its the graphite that gets all the enquiries from guests when I shoot weddings.

For my wedding work, I'm using the 2 bodies with the Holdfast Moneymaker. Otherwise, I've yet to find anything more comfy than the Black Rapid straps.

23 and 56 is my wedding combo. The AF on both with the X-T1 isn't stellar, but it's fast enough

I've got the 50-140 on order from B&H. Once it comes in then I'm so over my Nikon's.

I've shot 3 weddings exclusively with an X-T1 (56mm) and an X100s. Coming from Nikon full frames, I'm very happy with the performance and surprised at the X-T1's low-light AF capabilities as well. I've blogged one of the weddings here http://goo.gl/j3hWve

Anyone seen the Neewer 850 flash? It's 'universal' one pin that works outstandingly well on Nikon, Canons and Sony's so it should be compatible with the Fuji X's. What is really interesting is that you can buy a wireless receiver / transmitter that allows you to control manual power output.

Lot's of good info for you there. Try them and see what works best for you. I just want to add that the only time I expose for the dress is when I'm doing detail shots. For me, exposing for the face is much more important.

X100s - a couple of London street scenes

Sorry if it seems obvious but your friend might not have considered it - but could be worth reminding him that 50mm on the crop sensor D3100 is around 85mm. When I had a crop, I purchased the 35mm 1.8 DX and it never left the body.
