It's actually going off to a commercial printer for a calendar. I don't know what his gear is, but I know he converts to CMYK, and so to ease the pain, I do the conversion before I send them off, so I can see how much damage there is and I at least have a chance to make a few tweaks or even...
Aye, that's it. I did a bit investigation. I have an inkjet, which needless to say prints in CMYK. I took the original in RGB with the nice vibrant lilacs and set up a print job with it, and then clicked the gamut warning. Sure enough, it flagged the whole area where the lilacs were. I...
Once a year I need to convert some images from RGB to CMYK for printing purposes. I am doing it in PS using <Edit> <Convert to Profile>. Most don't change to any significant extent in the conversion, but the odd one goes really naff, with a lot of loss of saturation of certain colours. That...
Wondered if anyone else had encountered a strange noise from their Canon 1st generation (2-stop) image stabilisation lens. The lens I used to get it from was the 28-135 mm IS USM, which I have since sold. To get the noise, you needed to be in servo AF, with IS switched on. Holding down the...
Thanks Allan - that's given me something to think about all right. Don't know if these are new, but I spent some serious time Googling away about a year ago and didn't find them. There is no one model that is an exact tight fit in the way the home made rig above is (the Type 20 comes close)...
Thanks go to Sam-D. I bought one of the 'Really Useful Box' 5L XLs.
I lined it with 2 layers of foam using 'no more nails' tape. The finished article takes the SLR body with any one lens, up to and including my largest (100-400 mm). It is so snug a fit, I had to make cut aways for the...
Didn't realise there was an issue with the Sigma 10-20 mm. I have had mine for about 6 years - maybe the older ones were better? Not noticed any more edge softness than to be expected - though I am no expert. For anyone interested, the shots here were taken recently with work shared between...
Yep, it's just that thing with the dimensions giving a snug but correct fit. The 3 L is actually really close, but the width won't take the 7D body. The 5L has less height than the 3 L and won't take the pentaprism hump. The 9 L is too wasteful of space and would take up too much of the bag...
Thanks for the suggestion. The problem is the arrangement is kind of like Lego bricks. So, the more rectangular the container, the better. A holster is just too curvy to fit into the space without wasting too much of the limited room.

Does anyone know of an alternative to the Peli cases for something that will give me a neat, tight fit with no wasted space for taking a full sized SLR body (no grip) plus zoom lens, eg 24-105 mm?
The Peli type are over the top. What I want is protection for the camera when I put it inside...
I updated the firmware, but that was not the answer. Next I set about clearing all the entries with the intention of entering them again to see if it would accept 6 entries. When I went into the sub-menu to delete them, I found that there were 2 AEB's listed with the 2nd greyed out. I just...
I've had one for about 5 years and I think what you are describing is probably normal for this lens - my copy definitely has more 'play' in the moving parts than my other lenses - but as you say it does not seem to bother the IQ and I have never had any issues with the shots it has taken.
