    Small Backpack Advice

The Kata DR-467 gets my vote...probably the most compact of all the backpacks I've seen and used. The pockets can be configured to suit your needs including a gripped 5D with the 24-70 I'm sure.

    Nikon to Cannon

For my first camera, I chose Nikon over the Canon cos the D40 felt much better in my hands than the 450D. However I upgraded to a Canon as I was really happy with the 50D when compared to the D90. If you are not heavily invested in one, the other is worth shot. Having said that, I would not go...

    Giottos Vetruvian tripods?

I've got the Manfrotto 498RC2 head on my Velbon...The setup, I think is more than sufficient to handle a DSLR and a biggish tele. According to the Velbon site, Rexi L has the heaviest load carrying capacity in the Ultra series.. http://www.velbon.co.uk/products/photo/ultra_LUXi_M.html The...

    Giottos Vetruvian tripods?

I spent a lot of time on finding a good travel tripod and finally settled for Velbon Ultra Rexi L. It folds down to 36cm, lowest height of 9.5cm, weighs 1.3kgs, supports upto 4 kgs and costs about 100-120 quid. The drawbacks: legs don't have a rubber wrap, so will be cold to hold on to and...

    Canon 50D question

Guess Fred's point is about being able to select 'A' in the ISO settings, which is not auto in the literal sense but 400...so not having that option would be more appropriate. One might end up using the 'A' ISO mode in manual, hoping the camera would still pick the right ISO for the scene...

    Canon 50D question

In 50D (all Canon's?), the Manual mode is truly 'manual'...:p

    Canon 50D question

The 50D does not have a programmable auto ISO feature...if that is what you are asking. In P, Av ad Tv modes, the camera chooses the best ISO according to the scene between 100-1600. In manual mode, the auto ISO defaults to 400. Hope that helps...

    Canon 50D question

Mine works fine too...the only time I change to a preset aperture is when I'm shooting in mixed light (shadows and sunlight for instance). In such cases the camera chooses a higher ISO based on the darker areas, which isn't always what I want.

    Gloves for photography?

Got myself a couple of Aldi biking gloves...worth every penny I should say. They also sell 'angler's gloves' which IMO were much better and would have better suited a photog's needs but my local store had a lousy color combo :| At 4.99, I might pick those too if I can find more sober...
