Thanks for clarifying Phil. I have spoken to Lencarta and they are hoping to have more stock in late July. Having taken on board your advice and the opinion of a couple of others I am minded to wait for the Lencarta foldable beauty dish.

After much deliberation and many conversations I have now settled on the Nikon 200-400mm F4 VR (NOT VRII). Seems to be the best 'bang for buck' in terms of reach and image quality.

Okay, so now someone has thrown a spanner in the works and suggested I look at the Sigma 120-300mm f2.8. Any thoughts?

Thanks for that. Yeah, the more I think about it the more I am leaning towards the 80-400mm. I shoot quite a lot of American Football and this lens would allow me to capture 'the snap' and the quarterback at the long end but still go wide enough for me to capture the play as it gets nearer to me.

Thanks for all the advice everyone. I bit the bullet and bought the lens (Nikon 35mm f/1.8 G ED) and I have to say I am well impressed. The lens is in fantastic condition and cost me £80-100 less than if I had bought it from MPB.
