Hi all, looking for a bit of advice, looking for my first prime lens want something nice and wide as im going to the usa and plan on photos of the Grand canyon/hoover dam golden gate bridge and Vegas and was wondering what focal lengths and apiture you would recommend?

If I'm out with friends or where someone might want a picture I have taken I'll put on photo bucket, if I'm happy with the picture and I feel it's good I'll put it on Flickr

I would maybe try a polarizer? you can always give the colours a wee boost by editing them, specify a different grey point ect if you took them as a .RAW

Auto mode is my first guess, put it in Shutter priority and have another go. Failing that are you manual or auto focusing? viewfinder or live view?? Your viewfinder may be out of focus twiddle with the knob on the right of the eye rest to sharpen it up!
