Thanks for your replies.
So just to clarify the difference between a wired and wireless remote comes down to the price and factors such as being tethered to the camera, or battery life/availability....
I assu,e that differences in price mainly come from build quality and additional...
Having done some amount of searching for a wireless remote for the Nikon D3100 I've noticed a few things.
One is that there aren't many wireless remotes that are compatible with the Nikon D3100. I found a highly rated Promote wireless remote on Amazon (US) unfortunately its not available to...
Hi,
I've a couple of photos (JPEG files) that I'd like to get printed and framed does anyone know of a suitable place to get this done either online or in the East London area?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
Hi all,
I managed earlier last year to get a decent amount of tickets for the olympics so looking forward to going I've been looking up to see if like other places the olympics will place some kind of ban or restriction on the use of cameras.
I wasn't unsurprised to find out the...
Just an update:
Thanks for the detail Ffoeg the service was pretty quick I left a voicemail message with Nikon on Friday at 4pm with my callback number and the part I needed. By 11am on Monday they returned my call and by Tuesday morning the next day I'd received the part.
All very quick and...
Hi,
I own a Nikon D3100 and have somehow managed to lose the rubber cover used to protect the USB & HDMI ports (Pictured via link below).

Does anyone know how (or if) I could possibly get this replaced?
This seems to be a topic that even from my limited experience of this forum throws up polarised opinions. So the best advice I've seen would be to probably try before you buy and rent the 35mm f/1.8 DX.
That said I too asked this question a couple of months ago with my first DSLR wondering why...
Theres definitely little reason to get this phone if you already own an iPhone four. I think the voice assistant 'Siri' will be a gimmick to all but a small proportion of the iPhone userbase .
On the contracts as I've found with the four (if you can afford it) you're better off buying the phone...
Just to wade in...
After owning a nikon D3100 for a month and asking the exact same question to another togger I knew he suggested primes were better. And to "zoom with your feet".
On his advice I researched available primes for the kind of shooting I wanted to do and picked up the nikon 35mm...
The main reason for leaving it on is that it offers another layer of protection for the front lens element.
The argument against would be that if something was able to break that UV filter (and they're nowhere near as durable as the lens element itself) then it will almost certainly damage or...
Not sure what's going on here from what I can see I'm thinking a shot with a very shallow DOF that is focused on the fuselage?
Or is there something I'm missing?
I've been doing quite a lot of low light shooting recently and have realised that the AF assist illuminator has a purpose beyond being a shining indicator of the shutter about to fire.
That said I was wondering why it doesn't appear to activate before every shot on my Nikon D3100? Sometimes I...
Some video reviews linked here should give an idea of what the D3100 can do.

For reasons stated above the 35mm f/1.8 has an effective 52mm focal length on a crop sensor body. In my experience it's produced my best portrait shots with some pleasing bokeh when it's wide open.
Definitely worth the money I think.
Edit: full frame > crop sensor
