Probably slightly off topic, and probably been covered before, but I have just got a 1D MkIII and having paid for 45 focussing points, been advised to turn them all off and just use the centre one (with assist points) seems like I'm not using full potential of the autofocus system??? Confused!!

Hi Guys Just wondering about cropping. Do you guys try to keep the original 3:2 image size and go with the best crop that this will yield, or do you go for the best crop regardless of final image ratio (width:height) Thanks in advance Len

With A I can cover most of this half with a 70-200 on a 1.6 crop camera as the players are approaching.

Thanks very much guys, some very quick responses!! It's looking very much like a 1D mkIII so far, just grit my teeth and go for it, I'm sure I'll be pleased with it. I am aware of the AF problems of the early models, and the "bargains" that are around, but will make sure it's a good one...

I may even consider a 1D MkII, and use the remaining cash towards a lens??? Any thoughts?

Yes Andrew, I realise they have different crop factors thanks. The lenses I'll be using on either camera will be Canon L series, compatible with both. Wondering more about Image Quality in particular, how good images will be after cropping etc

I don't have much experience before you shout me down in flames, but most of the time, if all action is at one end, then second half it should, in theory all be at the other end?
