    Hitech Filters

Ive got quite a few Hi-Tech filters (hard and soft grad plus general ND one) plus a 10 stop. No issues with a colour cast on the grads but there is a slight cast on the 10 stop. Overall, good filters and a good compromise on price. Having said all that, i'm going to sell mine I think. I...

    Slave Flash for Macro work

Hi Guys, hope you are all well and, happy new year. I'm about to embark on some Macro photography (owing to a friend lending me the 100mm f2.8 L with MR-14EX flash. Now, I have a 5D Mark II camera body and a 430 EX ii flash at home. My main concern with the MR-14EX flash is that the...

Tripod and Head (and maybe even a new bag)

Hi Guys. I've been on a few trips recently. I have a Lowepro backpack. It doesn't have a tripod holder but i usually just slide my current tripod in (a Giottos Carbon Fibre tripod) sideways which can be lethal when walking down the street. I'm off to NYC next year and want to get a new bag...

Best way to achieve "natural" feeling photos when blending exposures

I think you're probably right. Maybe I get so focussed on producing a picture with a full tonal range that I forget what we would actually see in the real worls. There is perhaps a conflict in people wanting to see the perfect curve on the histogram and not realising that at a sunset there will...

Best way to achieve "natural" feeling photos when blending exposures

Thanks. When you say get things right in camera, what exactly do you mean? I usually bracket the photos (3 shots, +2 and -2). Then I sit down pic the best one for the foreground, best one for Sky, tweak the exposure as I need to so they are not miles apart (which I think makes then look odd)...

Best way to achieve "natural" feeling photos when blending exposures

Hi All, The subject heading says it all but I would love to be able to get a natural looking picture whilst blending exposures but so far I don't think i've been able to do it. Ive tried HDR (which always gives a certain feel). Blending exposures by overlaying pictures and painting away...

    Macro

Hi Guys. I usually take landscapes but i am toying with the idea of investing in a macro lens and trying some up close work (in part owing to the weather we have been having recently). I just wanted to get your views on which lens I should be going for? I would spend upto £550-600 on the...

How to keep yourself motivated to learn

Unless you have fantastic natural ability, like most things in life, you get what you put in. I'd love to go pro, start a photography business etc etc but to do that you need to make time and have commitement. For me, having a full time job and a wife (yip, she is considerate but there is...
